Laboratory of Models and Methods of Computational Pragmatics, Moscow, Russia

Laboratory of Models and Methods of Computational Pragmatics in Moscow, Russia, invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP including Large Language Models), Deep Learning, Pattern Mining (including Sequence and Graph Mining, Formal Concept Analysis and its applications), and Recommender Systems (RecSys).

Requirements

The general requirements for the postdoctoral fellowship positions are the following:

●      Candidates must hold a recent PhD in the field of Computer Science or related areas which was awarded over the last 5 years or received before starting work at HSE in a relevant field by an internationally recognized university and has been assessed by external reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in leading peer-reviewed journals;

●      Candidates should have a strong background in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, ability to work in (small) teams; conduct research in one of the fields of NLP, Data Mining including Graph Mining, Machine Learning (including Deep Learning); or work with tools and libraries popular in the field (transformers and any of Large Language Models, scikit-learn, PyTorch (TensorFlow or Keras), topic modeling like BigARTM or GenSim, Apache Spark, etc.) and/or work with specific programs for Data Mining and FCA like SPMF or ConExp. A good knowledge and desire to work with Graphs, Lattices or Formal Concept Analysis (FCA, also known as Concept or Galois Lattices), Combinatorial Search and Optimization is also welcome. Ability to develop your own algorithms and with HPC (GPU) and BigData technologies would be a plus.

●      If the candidate has a good background in other areas like Computer Vision, Optimization, Statistical Learning or Time Series Analysis or industrial experience with applications like Digital Twins, AutoML with Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs, RAG application we are welcome such applicants as well.

●       Fluent English is an obligatory condition as research and other activities are conducted in English. Knowledge of Russian is not required;

●      Relevant experience will be an asset although not required.

The position involves:

●      Working under the direct supervision of Dr. Dmitry Ignatov or other senior colleagues in the laboratory;

●      Participants are encouraged to pursue their own research along with working on MMCP research projects such as:

●      Multimodal Clustering for NLP, Knowledge Discovery in Databases and Recommender Systems

▪ Word-sense induction (including triframes and triclustering)

▪ Biclustering and its applications (including Bioinformatics)

●       Machine Learning on Graphs (including GNN and other graph-based embeddings)

●       BenchmarkingDeep Learning and Neural Architecture Search for NLP

●      Sparsification and Compression of Deep Learning models

●      Large Language Models and their applications: creation of new datasets or corpuses, multilingual applications, review analysis, hope and hate speech detection, text detoxification etc.

●      Interpretable and Fair Machine Learning and Recommender Systems [1]

●      Combinatorial Search and Optimization with Formal Concept Analysis
