Choose the most relevant position according to your area of expertise and academic interests.

Check Your Eligibility

HSE University welcomes international applicants who hold a recently received PhD (one that has been awarded over the last five years) in relevant fields by an international research university and have been assessed by external reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in top peer-reviewed journals.

Applications from candidates who are close to getting their PhD may also be accepted, but can only start a contract with HSE University if they have received their PhD by the start date of their employment.

Teaching experience at leading foreign universities is desirable.

Fluent English is obligatory. Knowledge of Russian is not required.

Respective departments may have extra requirements for positions. Please check them in the position description. 

Prepare Your Documents

To apply for a chosen position, you will need the following documents:

•  your CV
•  a statement of your research interests
•  a recent research paper
•  recommendation letters (at least 2)

Submit an Application

• click “Apply” under the position description
• fill in the online form
• submit your application

Send the Recommendation Letters

If you have not attached the recommendation letters when submitting the application form, ask your referees (at least two) to send their letters directly to the Review Committee at International Faculty Recruitment to iri@hse.ru before the application deadline. Please note that your application will not be considered if the letters are submitted late.

Wait for the Review

After the deadline, the Review Committee shall consider and evaluate each application package on the basis of academic appointability, research potential, and its match to each HSE University faculty’s area of research and academic environment.

After careful review and online pre-interview, shortlisted candidates will be invited for flyouts to the HSE University campus in Moscow - more precisely, for an interview, meetings with faculty members, and a seminar presentation.

Get the Response

After all of the review steps, the final decisions shall be made. If you are accepted, you will be sent an offer for the position with all of the relevant information.
