Requirements
The general requirements for the tenure track positions are the following:
Candidates must hold a PhD in the field Education, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, or related areas which was awarded over the last 5 years or received before starting work at the HSE University in a relevant field by an internationally recognized university and has been assessed by external reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in leading peer-reviewed journals;
· Teaching experience at leading foreign universities is desirable;
· Experience in preparing publications in WoS and Scopus Q1-Q2 journals;
· Skills in working with statistical software Stata and/or R, Pythonis a plus;
· Skills in psychometric modelling are a plus;
· Knowledge of Russian is not required as research and teaching are both conducted in English. Therefore, fluent English is obligatory.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-quality research publishable in reputable peer-reviewed journals with research support provided by the University.
Participants are encouraged to pursue their own research along with working on Institute’s research projects in following areas:
· Wellbeing in education;
· Online collaborative learning - specifically teacher, peer, or AI feedback;
· Problem solving support and instructional design in online learning environments;
· Instructional design in online environment;
· Self-regulated learning strategies during online learning and it's measurement;
· Critical thinking and/or creativity, practices that foster creativity and critical thinking in school or higher education; teacher/adult education in the field of creativity and critical thinking (including professional learning communities);
· Comparative curriculum analysis in general and higher education;
· School leadership: distributed, middle, transformational, instructional etc.;
· Transforming school models and organisational design in various socio-economic and local contexts;
· Autonomy development in different ages, practices of autonomy support by school staff and family members;
· Control and autonomy support in education and families: cross-cultural studies;
· Stress at school: measures, coping strategies, prevention programs;
· Making life choices in youth in different life areas (education, family relationships, place of residence etc.);
· Digital parenting and parental education;
· Modelling of factors of school failure and development of preventive interventions based on longitudinal study data;
· Cationization of education and the changing nature and role of vocational education and training;
· Educational and career trajectories of youth in a longitudinal perspective;
· Issues in measurement of educational progress and development;
· Effects and structure of children’s extracurricular education and after-school time;
· Inequality and equity in school and extracurricular education;
· Child’s capital, structure, quality, and benefits of children’s after-school time;
· Contribution of higher education to individuals and society;
· Efficiency, performance, and impact of higher education institutions;
· University research capacity in Post-Soviet Countries;
· Regional studies of higher education;
· University campuses;
· Undergraduate and graduate student experience;
· Transformation of doctoral education;
· Adult learning and education at universities;
· Skills for productivity (personal effectiveness);
· Personalization of assessment using AI algorithms (CAT);
· Psychometric properties of digital tools using log file analysis,
· Features of measuring complex constructs in digital environments (the role of personality traits, individual cognitive characteristics, interface design, etc.);
· AI technologies in assessment;
· AI literacy assessment;
· Schools’ digital transformation and its measurements;
· AI literacy definition and its formation in K-12;
· AI tools use in K-12: practices for active AI-supported learning;
· Teachers’ professional development for educational transformation;

Conditions
Tenure track positions are only available on a full-time, residential basis.
Overall, appointments are usually made for an initial three-year period (starting September 2025), and, upon successful completion of an interim review, contracts are normally extended for a further three years until the tenure review.
