The School of Electronic Engineering in Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM) of the Higher School of Economics, Russia invites applications for full-time, tenure-track positions of Assistant Professor in Materials Science and related fields.

Requirements

The general requirements for the tenure track positions are the following:

·         Academic Qualifications : Candidates must hold a PhD degree in the field Material Science and/or Condensed Matter Physics, which was awarded in a relevant field by an internationally recognized university and has been assessed by external reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in leading peer-reviewed journals.

·         Research Expertise : Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in computational and theoretical materials science and condensed matter physics. Specific areas of interest include amorphous materials, quantum dynamics of dissipative systems, nanophotonics (light-matter interaction), quantum transport and superconductivity. This expertise should be evidenced by a strong record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.

·         Technical Proficiency : A solid background in theoretical and numerical methods relevant to materials science and condensed matter physics is essential.

·         Teaching Experience : Teaching experience, especially at leading international universities, is desirable.

·         Language Requirements : Fluency in English is required as both research and teaching are conducted in English. Knowledge of Russian is not necessary.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-quality research publishable in reputable peer-reviewed journals with research support provided by the University.

Conditions

Tenure track positions are only available on a full-time, residential basis.

Overall, appointments are usually made for an initial three-year period (starting September 2025) and, upon successful completion of an interim review, contracts are normally extended for a further three years until the tenure review.
