Postdoctoral research positions. Deadline: April 1, 2015

A full-time postdoctoral position in the area of interdisciplinary language and literary studies is available at the School of Philology of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow, Russia. The school brings together specialists in literary studies and interdisciplinary researchers in the field of language, houses the Laboratory of Linguo-Semiotic Studies and the Center for Language and Brain, and strongly encourages further diversification of its research agenda, including crosslinguistic, cross-cultural, and cross-disciplinary focus on language and literature. We are looking for a candidate with solid theoretical background in humanities and hands-on expertise in using interdisciplinary approaches to language and literature.  

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Prof. Elena Penskaya, Director of the School of Philology, in cooperation with the leading Russian scientists and international partners. Research infrastructure includes resources of the HSE library with access to the world leading knowledge bases of scientific papers and other sources. The candidate is encouraged to pursue his/her own research in parallel with contributing to the School’s research projects.  The candidate is expected to participate in the intellectual life of the School and a broader interdisciplinary group of Faculty of Humanities at the HSE, which includes faculty, research fellows and students in Linguistics, Philosophy, Cultural Studies, History, Foreign Languages and related disciplines. Limited teaching as well as public presentations of the candidate’s own research throughout the year are strongly encouraged 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Linguistics, Literature, Cultural Studies or related fields;
  • fluent English (knowledge of Russian is an asset, but not required);
  • experience of  interdisciplinary research is an asset;
  • the ability and motivation to conduct high-quality research publishable in reputable international peer-reviewed journals.
