Center for Institutional Studies (CInSt)

·        Determinants of student academic achievements (peer effects, impact of financial aid, health-related behavior),

·        Student transition from secondary school to university,

·        Factors of academic research productivity.

CInSt has access to educational statistics in Russia and own survey data including several datasets which contain information on students’ characteristics and achievements, socioeconomic background, information about students online and offline social networks. It is also possible to collect new data by questionnaire surveys.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to pursue his/her research interests under the supervision of Prof. Maria Yudkevich, work in close collaboration with the center’s ongoing projects, and make no less than two presentations of the research before the affiliated center or laboratory, or a broader audience. Some teaching is also encouraged.

We are looking for highly motivated and independently working researchers with interest in higher education. Applicants should have a strong theoretical and empirical background in economics or sociology of education (a PhD degree in Education/Sociology/Economics from a recognized university), good command of statistics/econometric software (such as Stata/R/Matlab/Python), some programming skills are desired. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
