The Higher School of Economics, the Center for Institutional Studies (CInSt) invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of economics or sociology of education.
Topics of interest include but are not restricted to:
· Peer effects transmission in online and offline social networks;
· Social networks and student academic achievements and dropouts;
· Social networks and health-related behavior;
· Peer effects in different educational systems;
· Network modeling and network analysis methods.
CInSt has access to several datasets which contain information on student present and previous achievements, socioeconomic background, psychological traits, behavior, and social offline and online networks. It is also possible to construct a new database on social networks related to research topic.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to pursue his/her research interests under the supervision of Prof. Maria Yudkevich, work in close collaboration with the center’s ongoing projects, and make no less than two presentations of the research before the affiliated center or laboratory, or a broader audience. Some teaching is also normally encouraged.
We are looking for highly motivated and independently working researchers with interest in social networks research. Applicants should have a strong theoretical and empirical background in economics, sociology or psychology (a PhD degree in Economics/Sociology/Psychology from a recognized university), good command of statistics/econometric software (such as Stata/R/Matlab/Python), some programming skills are desired. Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
Appointments will be normally made for one year.
