The Higher School of Economics Institute for Social Policy in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Social Policy and Families in the Ageing Societies.

The job involves:

· working under the direct supervision of Oxana Sinyavskaya, Deputy Director of the Institute for Social Policy

· participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working on the Institute for Social Policy research projects in four broad areas:

a) Changing Role of the Family in an Ageing Society, Informal Care Provision, and Intergenerational Relations and Transfers

b) Long-Term Care Reforms and Nongovernmental Provision of Social Services

c) Active Ageing and Social Policy for the People with Disabilities and Elderly

d) Recent Pension Reforms, Their Factors and Consequences

· writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Institute

· participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Institute’s development

· public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community

· some teaching is encouraged, though not required.

The Institute offers access to its infrastructure, databases (such as 3 waves of the panel Russian Generations and Gender Survey (GGS), HSE - Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (RLMS) and some other surveys containing information on Russian households, their incomes, expenditures, social services consumption, etc.) and analytical software.

Requirements:

- a PhD from an international research university in such fields as: social policy, social welfare, social work, public policy and public administration, demography / population studies, economics, sociology, political science,

- a strong background in research, data processing and data analysis, including classical statistics, quantitative methods, econometrics,

- good command of statistics/econometric software (such as SPSS/Stata/R),

- ability to work in a team,

- fluent English,

- knowledge of the Russian language is an asset, but is not required
