Center for Language and Brain


The Higher School of Economics Center for Language and Brain in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Neurolinguistics with a focus on language acquisition and/or bilingualism.

 

The job involves:

  • working under the direct supervision of Center for Language and Brain’s director Dr. Olga Dragoy;
  • participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working on Neurolinguistics Laboratory’s research projects in the broad area of neural foundations for language acquisition and/or bilingualism, with the focus on experimental, neuroimaging and clinical evidence;
  • writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Lab;
  • participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Lab’s development;
  • public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community;
  • some teaching is encouraged, though not required.

 

The Lab offers access to large populations of normally and atypically developing children, healthy and brain-impaired bilingual adults, and the necessary technical resources (a 126-channel EEG system, 1.5 and 3T MRI scanners, TMS, tDCS and tACS systems, high-speed eye-trackers). 

 

Requirements:

  • a PhD from an international research university in such fields as: Linguistics, Psychology, Speech and Language Sciences, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Computer Science or related fields;
  • a strong background in experimental studies of language acquisition and/or bilingualism (good knowledge of paradigms, advanced expertise in using state-of-the-art neuroscientific techniques, e.g., ERPs, structural and functional MRI, TMS, tD/ACS);
  • ability to work in a team;
  • fluent English.
