Institute of Education: Early childhood education, family and parenting studies

Institute of Education of the National Research University Higher School of Economics invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of early childhood education, family and parenting studies.

The job involves:

• working under the direct supervision of Prof. Katerina Polivanova, Director of the Centre for Modern Childhood Studies.
• participants are encouraged to pursue their own research within the Centre for Modern Childhood Studies research projects in three broad areas:

o  parenting and family studies

o  parent education programs

o  after-school activities and educational inequality

• writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Centre
• participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Centre’s development
• public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community
• teaching is encouraged, though not required.

The Institute of Education conducts annual empirical studies that provide extensive data for the researchers in the above-mentioned areas. The Centre offers access to its databases and analytical software also.

Requirements:

• a PhD from an international research university in such fields as: sociology, psychology, geography
• a strong background in quantitative/qualitative data analysis
• evidence of ability to conduct independent research, and to publish research results
• ability to work in a team,
• fluent English
• relevant experience is an asset although not required
