Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of economic sociology with a focus on sociology of markets.

The job involves:

• working under the direct supervision of Vadim Radaev, Head of LSES, First Vice rector of HSE
• participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working on Laboratory for Studies in Economic Sociology research projects in at least one of the following broad areas:

o  Behavioral Household Finance

o  Alcohol Drinking in Contemporary Russia

o  Generational Changes in Consumer and Social Practices

o  Education, Qualifications and Subjective Well-Being of Internet-Based Freelancers

o  Social Capital Impact on Economic Efficiency of Enterprises

• writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Lab
• participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Lab’s development
• public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community
• some teaching is encouraged, though not required.

The Lab offers access to its resources, including databases, as well as research workshops and weekly seminars.

Requirements:

• a PhD from an international research university in such fields as: sociology and anthropology
• a strong background in empirical work (preferably in economic sociology or economic anthropology) as well as academic research writing
• ability to work in a team,
• fluent English
• relevant experience is an asset although not required
