Laboratory for High Performance Computing and Network

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory for High Performance Computing and Network in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of High-performance heterogeneous computing for machine vision system.

The job involves:

•        working under the direct supervision of Prof. Yury Leokhin
•        participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working on High performance computing laboratory research projects in four broad areas:

o  High-performance heterogeneous computing systems based on the open PICMG specifications, like as microTCA and advancedTCA, and parallel computing principles;

o  Embedded modular computer system with integrated MIPS, ARM and x86 central processor units (CPU), graphics processors (NVIDIA GPU), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA);

o  High-performance NVMe SSD storage;

o  High-load image processing in real-time multicamera applications including machine learning in embedded machine vision systems.

•        writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Lab
•        participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Lab’s development
•        public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community
•        some teaching is encouraged, though not required.

The Lab offers access to its partner hardware and software including:

-         microTCA computing systems,

-         Hi-end XIMEA cameras,

-         NVIDIA embedded GPU,

-         Fastvideo software for GPU Image & Video Processing,

-         Image Flow Framework for Machine vision systems.

Requirements:

-         a PhD from an international research university in such fields as: High-performance heterogeneous and embedded computing, NVMe SSD storage, image processing and machine learning in machine vision systems,

-         a strong background in mathematics, image processing and machine vision algorithms, system, application and embedded software,

-         ability to work in a team,

-         fluent Russian or English,

-         relevant experience is an asset although not required.
