Laser-Induced Plasma and Plasma Dynamics


The Higher School of Economics Faculty of Physics (Chair of Quantum Optics and Nanophotonics with the Institute of Spectroscopy of the Russian Academy of Sciencesinvites applications for postdoctoral research position in the field of Laser-Induced Plasma and Plasma Dynamics.

 

The job involves:

  • working under direct supervision of Dr. K.N. Koshelev, Leading Researcher at Department of Atomic Spectroscopy, ISAN
  • participants are encouraged to pursue their research working on the projects listed below:

o  Laser Induced Plasmas;

o  Plasma-Based EUV Light Sources;

o  Physics of Highly Charged Ions;

  • the lab offers access to its scientific equipment: solid state Nd:YAG lasers, CO2 lasers, vacuum facilities, plasma diagnostics (spectrometers, mass-spectrometers, electrostatic probes, etc.); workshop and materials;
  • writing research papers to international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Institute;
  • presenting your own research results and result of the research group you work with at the National and International conferences and other meetings; taking part in scientific seminars and events organized by the host Institute, as well as in other Institute’s activities;
  • some teaching is encouraged, though not required.


Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics from an internationally recognized research university in such fields as: Laser Physics, Plasma Physics or relevant
  • ability to work in a team;
  • strong background in experimental work: solid state lasers and optical systems; vacuum systems; basic knowledge in the field of hydrodynamics, microjets and microdroplets; the main methods of spectroscopy in ultraviolet and soft X-ray regions; plasma diagnostics;
  • fluent English and good abilities in academic writing and scientific presentations.
