P.L. Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems and P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory Faculty of Physics (Chair of Low Temperature Physics together with P.L. Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems and P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences) invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. 

The job involves:

• working in the superconductivity group under the supervision of Prof. V.M. Pudalov
• participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in the following broad areas:

o  growth, and ARPES studies of novel superconducting materials

o  low temperature ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy of novel superconducting materials

o  thin films of bismuth chalcogenides: towards devices and superconductivity

o  contactless measurements of  the thermodynamical properties of 2D electron gas  at ultra low temperatures

• writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Institutes;
• presenting your own research results and result of the research group you work with at the National and International conferences and other meetings; taking part in scientific seminars and events organized by the host Institute, as well as in other Institute’s activities;
• public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community
• some teaching is encouraged, though not required.

Requirements:

• a PhD from an internationally known research university in physics or chemistry;
• a strong background in one of the following subjects: ARPES, LT-UHV STM, topological insulators, nanofabrication, superconductivity, low temperature measurements, crystal growth;
• ability to work in a team;
• fluent English;
• relevant experience is an asset although not required.
